Japan PM: Want BOJ To Support Economy Via Appropriate Policy
TOKYO -(Dow Jones)- Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama said Wednesday he
wants the Bank of Japan to support the economy through appropriate monetary
policy.
"Both the government and the BOJ have been making efforts to beat deflation. I
want the BOJ to continue supporting the economy by implementing appropriate
monetary policy," Hatoyama said in a parliament session.
Hatoyama has been making the same remark about the central bank's policy in
the recent past, and it can be interpreted as mild pressure on the central bank
to take further easing steps.
The BOJ will hold a two-day monetary policy meeting next week.
